NoveList Statistics

It’s easy to set up statistical reports for NoveList, and they can be scheduled so they are run automatically on the first of the month, and sent to you automatically via e-mail. These can be sent as an attached webpage, or as tab or comma-delimited text.

The typical report has two rows– one for each group. The first group is usually called “main” and measures NoveList use that happens in your library. (Libraries with multiple locations may have multiple groups– if you have questions about your own library’s configuration, let us know.

The second group is called something like “wakrem” or “melrem” and measures use that happens by users from home (or elsewhere) who gain access using their library card. As always with EBSCO, it’s the barcode prefix that’s important here…for example, barcodes beginning with 2 1392 are considered Wakefield users.

Here’s what you’ll see for each group:

  • Sessions: This is the number of individual “visits” to NoveList. This is probably the most important measure of usage.
  • Searches: Just what it sounds like, how many individual searches were run. Note that this only measures one kind of activity on NoveList…it doesn’t count activity in which the user is just browsing around among the booklists and other content.
  • Total Full Text: This measures the number of articles, booklists, and similar material that was viewed by users.
  • Total Abstracts: This is the number of title records that were viewed by users.

You can configure your statistic to exclude some of these categories, if you don’t find them useful. The following screenshot shows the standard statistics configuration for NoveList reports. You can set these up yourself, if you have access to EBSCOAdmin, or request these from us. Please be sure to let us know which e-mail address(es) should be used for these.
