Software Issues

This page lists software bugs and design flaw that look like bugs.

Circulation

Last Activity in patron record shows as Unset when using Checkout

When coming from Checkout, using a patron barcode, the Last Activity shows as Unset. When coming from a patron search, Last Activity shows the date as it should.

Status: Fix Committed for Release 2.2.3

Renewal attempt fails with ACTION_CIRCULATION_NOT_FOUND message

Under certain circumstances a circulation transaction can be closed by the system causing a renewal to fail with this error. These are usually items that are quite overdue and may have been claimed returned, lost, or accrued a maximum fine that was paid.

Status: Under investigation

Holds

Copy Holds won’t trap for titles with parts

If a title has Parts designations, like “Disc 1-2”, “Disc 3-4”, Copy Level Holds on any of the copies attached to the record won’t trap. Title level holds will trap and Part level holds will trap.

Status: Fix Committed for Release 2.2.2

Staff Client

Disappearing Copy Notes Button

The Copy Notes button appears briefly and then disappears when adding copies through the Unified Editor. The button doesn’t disappear when using the Unified Editor to edit a copy already in the system.

Screencast — See it happen

Status: Not a bug, but definitely a design flaw

Catalog Issues

Unless otherwise noted, these affect both the public catalog and the catalog in the staff client.

  • Sticky Facet Issue
This problem happens when a user performs a search, limits the search results by clicking on a facet on the search results page, and then changes their search terms in the search box at the top of the search results page to perform a new search. The system erroneously remembers the facet(s) that was applied to the previous search, which may cause the user to get no hits or a much more limited set of results than they intended.

Status: Will be patched with Release 2.3.2

  • Reset button

The reset button at the bottom of the Advanced Search screen does not clear the search and limiters.

Status: The reset button now works as designed, which is not to clear the form, but just to reset the search filters

  • Acquisitions

    Invoicing without P.O. activation

Evergreen allows you to invoice a PO that has not been activated. No money is expended because no money was ever encumbered. There are a couple of ways to determine if this has happened to you:

    • Check your PO’s. If you see a number other than “0” in the “View Invoices” button and the “Total Spent” is $0.00, then you have encountered the bug.
    • OR

    • Check your invoices. If the line items say “0 invoiced” and “Paid $0.00” and you have a “Reopen Invoice” button at the bottom of your invoice, then you have encountered the bug.

If your PO’s or Invoices show this, you can create blanket PO’s to adjust the expenditures in the funds involved.

Prorated charges result in debits with more than two decimal places

If you have started using prorated charges you might notice that your
fund amounts are looking a little strange. Not wrong necessarily, but
strange. Some of the early development in Acquisitions was done using
Floating Point Math rather than Money Math. This is causing decimal
places to be carried out way beyond the two that are needed. So, you
might see figures like this: 23.8992342634 as opposed to 23.90. The
developers recognize that they need to switch everything over to use
Money Math. Not sure when this will happen, but until it does, you can
just round your figures to two decimal places.

Baker & Taylor, Ingram and EDI order confirmations

If you are currently ordering from Baker & Taylor or Ingram using EDI and get EDI confirmations, there is a bug that causes backordered items to be marked “cancelled” when the order confirmation is processed by Evergreen. The cancelled status can be seen if you click down into the line item copy. The cancelled status will prevent these items from being invoiced. There isn’t a way to un-cancel these in the client, but we have a way to change the status of these at the database level.

If you have a purchase order with items that you need un-cancelled, send us the purchase order number and we will un-canel the items. A fix for this is coming, but we don’t have an exact time frame.

Transferring money from one fund to another

This feature is currently not working. If you need to move money from one fund to another you can do a negative allocation to the fund you want to move money from. This will put the money back into the funding source. You can then do a positive allocation from the Funding source to the other fund. To do a negative allocation, put the amount in parentheses. Ex. (250.00)
