An iPad using a handheld cordless bluetooth barcode scanner or other mobile devices with cordless scanners can be handy for staff for mobile checkout using the Evergreen Self-check software, inventory and other projects.
The bluetooth barcode scanner will pair easily with an iPad, iPhone or iPod touch running IOS 5 or later. It can also pair with other mobile devices, including laptops.
There are several manufacturers of bluetooth scanners. NOBLE’s scanner is a Socket Mobile 7x. Socket Mobile manufactures scanners for a wide range of applications, including industry and healthcare, so they have a lot of products.
For libraries, the S700 series is a good choice. It scans linear barcodes (library cards and books) and sells for around $200 – $300.
