Item Attributes

Status
The status field contains a number of possible values, including Available, In Process, On Order, etc. You can see all the option on the dropdown menu, but some, like Checked Out, cannot be added manually but are set by the system.

Barcode
The barcode appears here for identification purposes, but it’s actually part of the volume record and can’t be edited here. To edit it, you need to either go to the unified editor or choose the Re-barcode item option from the menu.

Creation Date
The date the record was added to the system.
Migration: The create dates from Millennium were carried over as part of the migration and appear in this field. Data from previous systems were not migrated to Millennium, so only after December 20, 1999 are valid.

Active Date
The date the copy became active on the system. This generally means that the date the copy was input and checked in, or when its status changed from on order or in process to active. This is the date that we’ll be using for things like new books list or Age Hold Protection.

Creator
The initials of the user who created the record
Migration: All copies will be set to noble

Age-based Hold Protection
The length of time during which a new copy does not travel to fill holds.
This field uses the Active Date as a start date.
During this time, this copy will not appear on your pull list as a request to send the copy to another library to fill a hold. After the time period is over, the copy may appear on you pull list to send to another library. (This is automatic, you don’t need to change anything.
The options are unset (which is the default), 2 weeks, 1 month and 3 months.

Reference?
Is this item part of your reference collection? (Yes / No)
This is just an informational or reporting field, and doesn’t have any effect on circulation, holds, etc.  It could be useful for libraries who allow some reference items to circulate and/or move some of them into areas other than a specific Reference area.

This column displays Statistical Categories which can be set up for NOBLE or at the library level.

NOBLE Statistical Categories:
NOBLE has set up two statistical categories that will appear for all libraries. These hold age level and format information matching those used for the public library ARIS reports. These fields are outlined in red to show that they are required fields.

NOBLE:ARIS age range
Choose from a dropdown list to indicate whether the material is aimed at children, young adult or adult users.

NOBLE:ARIS formats
Choose from a dropdown list of physical formats: Books, Audio, Video, etc.

LIBRARY: ITEMSCAT
As part of the data conversion, each library will have a statistical category called ITEMSCAT which will have the itemscats that were set in Millennium. This will be a local statistical category, which means it will be owned and maintained by your library. Your library can continue to use the same itemscats that you have been using on Millennium, or use them only for certain types of material, or stop using them entirely.

You will be able use the Statistical Categories Editor to add or remove entries, or to change the label. For example, if you currently use the itemscat 173 for Graphic Novels, you can use the Statistical Categories Editor to change the label from 173 to 173 – Graphic Novels.

In addition, libraries can create and maintain their own statistical categories. You can make these required or optional, and can set up the name of statistical category and add entries to the dropdown. In the example shown above, there are four local statistical categories, two required and two optional.
