Troubleshooting Tips

Having a problem in the Evergreen Staff Client? Here are a few things to try:

  • Log out and log in again — The staff client fetches certain information from the server at the start of every session, and doesn’t go look for changes until you start a new session. Logging out and logging in again will fetch a fresh copy of all those settings. This includes things like call number prefixes. In addition, logging out and logging in again often fixes random problems related to the cache or memory.
  • Reboot the computer — This may fix problems if some other program or condition on your computer is using too many resources or otherwise interfering with the Evergreen staff client.
  • Remove peripheral devices — This is especially important if you’ve added anything new. Turn off or disconnect printers, barcode scanners, headsets, etc., one at a time and see if the problem persists.
  • Try a different workstation and login — If you’re having a problem when you login in at your workstation, try logging in on a different workstation to see if you have the same problem. Also try having a different user log in on your workstation. This will help you figure out if the problem is related to the workstation or login, or is a general issue.
  • Try a different patron, bib record, copy record, etc. — If you’re having a problem adding a note to a copy or changing a setting in a patron record, try doing the same thing to a different record. This will help determine whether the problem is related to a particular record or type of record or is a more general one.
