Setting up Receipt Printers

First, install the printer on your workstation

  • Connect the receipt printer to your workstation via USB or parallel connection
  • Install the printer on the workstation using the manufacturer’s driver or a compatible graphics driver

Next, go to the Printer Settings Editor by choosing Admin -> Workstation Administration -> Printer Settings Editor and configure the following settings:

Printer Context

Select the proper radio button for the printer situation you are setting up:

  • Choose Default if the workstation will only use the receipt printer
  • Choose Receipt if the workstation will also use another printer

Normal Settings

Open Page Settings and click on the Margins & Header/Footer tab.

  • Reduce the size of the left and right margins. A good setting to try is .2
  • In the Headers/Footers section, make sure all areas are set to blank

Click Set Default Printer and Print Test Page to open the printer dialog box.

Choose the installed receipt printer and click OK. A test page will be sent to the printer.

Advanced Settings

Check the Print Silently when using Mozilla Print box if you do not want to see the printer dialog box appear, requiring you to click OK before each receipt.

Alternate Print Strategies – you should not need to use any of these under normal circumstances.

IMPORTANT NOTES regarding printers previously used with Millennium:

  • Printers may need to have DIP switch settings changed to use with Evergreen, the first DIP switch in the larger bank of switches should be set to ON. Always turn off the printer before changing DIP switch settings
  • You may need to install a new driver for your printer to use with Evergreen since a driver was not required for use with Millennium. Use the recommended driver from the manufacturer, not the Generic/Text driver. You can download drivers for Star printers from Star Support
