Adding a MFHD Record
It is likely that your library’s MFHD record will have migrated from Millennium. If that is the case, you will not need to ADD a MFHD. If there is not a MFHD, you will need to create one. To do this:
- Search the Evergreen catalog for your serial title
- Select “Actions for this Record”
- Select “MFHD Holdings” and “Add MFHD Record”
- Choose the circulating library and click to “Select”
Editing a MFHD Record
If you have added a MFHD, you will need to edit it to add your library’s holdings. You may also need to edit a MFHD if the holdings are incorrect or change over time.
- Select “Actions for this Record”
- Select “MFHD Holdings” and “Edit MFHD Record”
- Select your MFHD Record. In most cases, there will be two MFHD records to choose from for each library. The first MFHD is created by the system when you add a subscription. The second is the one that the library adds or that was migrated from Millennium. Choose the second MFHD (e.g. NOBLE Main Library (2)). You cannot edit the system-generated MFHD and will get an error if you choose this one.
- The MFHD you create will look like this. Note, it does not yet have the 866 field which is the textual holdings statement.
To add the textual holdings statement:
- With your cursor, click anywhere in the MARC 852 field
- Add a new row by pressing “Ctrl-Shift-Enter”
- Input MARC field 866 and type/paste your textual holdings statement. Remember to add the subfield a.
- Click to “Save MFHD.” Note, you may get a message indicating the record contains unsaved data. You can ignore this.
The edited MFHD record should look something like this:
The updated holdings will display in the catalog like this:
