Adding a New Issuance

To add a special issuance of a serial follow the instructions below or watch this screencast.

  • Search the catalog for your title
  • Select “Actions for this Record”
  • Select “Alternate Serial Control”
  • Click on the subscription ID number
  • Click on the “Issuances” tab
  • Select the “New Issuance” button

  • Input a label for the issuance and the date published
  • Click on “Wizard”
  • If necessary, enter the volume and number of the issue (this applies only if you are using enumeration)

  • Click on “Compile”
  • Click on “Save”

NOTE: if the new issuance will be the LAST in the list of expected issuance, generate one or more predicted issuances BEFORE you add the new issuance.  Otherwise, future predictions will be based upon the publication date of the new/special issuance and not on the previously established publication pattern.

  • Next, select this new issue from the list of issuances
  • click on “New Items”

Enter the number of items, select the correct stream and date expected from the respective drop down menus.  Do not enter a “Date Received” and leave status as “Expected.” Note: if you did not give a name to your stream(s) when setting them up, your dropdown menu will appear empty. However, there is one blank entry at the top of the menu to select.

  • Click to “Create”

  • Go to Serial Control View and click on “Refresh”
  • Receive the issuance as usual

Note: if you get a “Network Error” when you receive a special issuance, you may need to edit the holding code.
