Marking Items as Missing Pieces

The Missing Pieces function in Evergreen can be used when items are returned missing a component, like a disc or accompanying booklet.

In the Checkin screen, Mark Item as Missing Pieces appears under Actions for Selected Items.

Using the Missing Pieces function causes several things to happen, one of which is to check the item out to the last patron.

NOTE: Since this function will reinstate a checkout, it should NOT be used when items found on the shelf are missing pieces, only immediately when items are returned missing a piece.

Using the Mark Item as Missing Pieces function will do the following:

  • Change the item’s status to Incomplete
  • Print a Missing Pieces slip to put with the item
  • Renew the item, or checkout the item to the last patron
  • Open the Edit Item Attributes screen to allow additional editing of the item.
  • Open the Add Note to Patron window so a message can be added to the patron record.

When one of the pop-up windows opens, you can just close it if you do not want to make any changes there.
