The categories for ADULT/YA and CHILDREN are derived from the location code in the item records. Codes ending with an "a" are included in the ADULT totals; codes ending with a "j" are included in the CHILDREN totals. If your library does not catalog YA materials under the "a" location, then you will have to adjust these totals. College library reports retain the original location code and are not broken down by Adult/Children.

For periodical holdings, the system is only able to count issues. Since the ARIS and IPEDS forms request that you report bibliographic volumes and not the number of issues, the number was not included

H. Circulation Totals

NOTE: checkouts to patrons with a PTYPE of "Special Patron", "ILL Card", "Book Group", and "NOBLE ILL Center" were subtracted from the individual library reports. These checkouts were for internal use only and should not be counted as a checkout on the ARIS form. Also subtracted from the report were checkouts of materials with the following ITYPE:

• 93-ILL Non-Ret from my Region
• 94-ILL Non-Ret from Other Regions
• 95-ILL Non-Ret from Non-Region
• 96-ILL Non-Ret from Outside MA
• 101-ILL Non-Returnable (sent)
• 34-XX - No Stats
• 35-XX - Internet PC
• 36-XX - On Order
• 145-148-XX - Tagalong

These ITYPE's do not represent true circulations as defined in the ARIS as "materials in all formats that are charged out for use outside the library..."

These statistics were generated from the raw data files using a Perl program. The item location was used to determine whether material was adult/YA or childrens. If your library does not catalog YA materials under the "a" location, then you will have to adjust these totals.

Web renewals have been added to each library's report. Web renewals are defined as renewals of a library's material to Stat Group 40.

For libraries with multiple branches, campuses, or bookmobiles, the totals were combined.

I. Interlibrary Loans

• loans you provided to other NOBLE libraries - based on the counts of all other libraries circulating your materials (Non-Owned Items Report)
• loans you provided to libraries outside of NOBLE - based on checkouts to patrons with a PCODE1 of b, c, m, n, s, w, t, r, o, d (Boston, Central, Metrowest, Northeast, Southeast, Western, Other Region, Non-Region, Decertified)
• loans you received from other NOBLE libraries - based on counts of your statistics group circulating other libraries' materials (Non-Owned Items Report)
• loans you received from outside of NOBLE - based on checkouts of items with an ITYPE of 88-91, 93-96 (Returnable and Non-Returnable ILL Material)
• Non-returnables you sent outside of NOBLE - based on checkouts of items with an ITYPE of 101 "ILL Non-Returnable (sent)"

Non-Owned Items Circulated - This report shows ILL's among NOBLE libraries. If you want to print this, you need the Excel file.

The following reports include complete ILL activity including the statistics from the Non-Owned report (above).

K. Nonresident Circulation Transactions

Non-Resident borrowing statistics are taken from the Circ Activity Report (sorted by RECIPROCAL) of the Innovative system. Reciprocal borrowing is determined by the code in the RECIPROCAL field of the patron's record.
