Catalog Links by ISBN

You can create links directly to particular bibliographic records using the ISBN. One advantage of using the ISBN rather than the record number is that the ISBN link is a little more persistent — record links will fail the record you link to is deleted or merged into another record. ISBN links will work as long as there is a matching ISBN in the database.

ISBN links are also commonly used by databases and other outside services that link to our catalog.

ISBN links can be scoped or unscoped. An unscoped links will show all copies, and assuming you’re using your subdomain as part of the URL, your library’s copies (if any) will be at the top of the list. Scoped links will only display your copies, with a link to show other copies. If your library doesn’t have a copy, the scoped link will result in a “Sorry, no entries found” message.

Basic ISBN Format: Unscoped

  • Replace evergreen with your library’s subdomain (for example, beverly.noblenet.org, endicott.noblenet.org, etc.)
  • Replace [ISBN] with the 10 or 13 digit ISBN
