Borrowing with Partner Libraries on Libby
If you are experiencing any trouble using the “Partner Library” feature in Libby, here are some troubleshooting tips from Libby/OverDrive that will hopefully solve the problem.
1) Verify your card(s) manually
- Tap Menu, then Cards.

- If needed, tap the drop-down icon to switch libraries.

- Tap
or
on your card. - Tap Verify Card, then sign in with your library card again.
If you receive an error message, let me know the text of that message. Once the card is validated, then the authentication should begin working for that library network, as well as for the partner libraries/networks.
2) Activate Partner Libraries
- Go to Menu > Cards.
- If needed, use the library drop-down and select your home library.

3. On the card, tap Actions button
, then Partner Libraries.
4. Tap Enable next to the desired Partner Library (or all of them!).
Once partner access is enabled, your existing loans and holds with those libraries will appear on your Shelf.
3) Delete cards from networks where you have Partner Library access via your home card.
We’ve recently learned that adding multiple home cards in the same partnership may cause problems accessing loans and holds on the “visitor” cards. Therefore, if you have cards added in Libby for the different Massachusetts networks there could end up being issues on the Libby side figuring out which card to use for your holds and loans.
Our advice is to keep the card for your home library (where you live/go to school) and, as long as there are no holds on your other cards, it may be best to delete them. You’ll still be able to access Libby items from those networks with your home card.
To delete a card, follow the steps above, tap
on your card, and then choose “Remove Card“.
