Blocking Patrons from PC's

To block individual patrons from logging into PC's managed by PC Reservation, you need to setup a rule in the Management Console. You then edit the patron's record and set the Internet Access Level to 'PCRes Block'.

On the PC Reservation Management Console, select User Validation Rules Wizard under the configure menu. Add a rule that says:

Using Evergreen as the Validating Authority and
If Patron Information contains PCRES BLOCK
Do Not Allow Computer Use

To Block for Money Owed

Using Evergreen as the Validating Authority and
If Fee Amount greater than $5.00
Do Not Allow Computer Use

Customizing the 4.x PC Reservation Client

The new PCRES 4.x Client can display news on the left side of the screen and help text on the right side. An acceptable use policy can also be created. These files are maintained on the management console.

  1. To change the help text go to C:\Program Files\EnvisionWare\PC Reservation\Management Service\translations\pcrClient_en_us.ets. Use the find option to locate the text that you will need to change or to add text into the existing patron directions.
  2. To edit the Use_Policy go to C:\Program Files\EnvisionWare\PCReservation\Management Service\html\use_policy\usePolicy_en_us.html and insert your acceptable use policy.
  3. To change news text go to C:\Program Files\EnvisionWare\PC Reservation\Management Service\news_feed/en_us.css and add in any news that you might want the patrons to see.
  4. To have the news hidden, change the name of the file. For example C:\Program Files\EnvisionWare\PC Reservation\Management Service\news_feed/en_us and change news_feed/en_us to news_feed/en_us1 and this minor change will prevent the news feed from showing up on the right hand side of the opening PCRES screen.
  5. After changes are made you must restart services on the management console. Go to Run: type services.msc and restart Envisionware PCR Management Services.
