One advantage of using the ISBN rather than the record number is that the ISBN link is a little more persistent &#8212; record links will fail the record you link to is deleted or merged into another record.  ISBN links will work as long as there is a matching ISBN in the database.<\/p>\n<p>ISBN links are also commonly used by databases and other outside services that link to our catalog.<\/p>\n<p>ISBN links can be scoped or unscoped.  An unscoped links will show all copies, and assuming you&#8217;re using your subdomain as part of the URL, your library&#8217;s copies (if any) will be at the top of the list.  Scoped links will only display your copies, with a link to show other copies.
