- Return boxes are available 24 hours a day. Patrons can drop off their returns in any one of the three boxes located around our building. Items are quarantined for 1 week before they are checked in.
- Item fines will be waived.
- Current patrons who have lost their library card numbers can register for a temporary card to use our online services.
Due to the precautions being taken to avoid the spread of COVID-19, the Lynn Public Library is offering our patrons the ability to apply for a temporary library card, which can be used to access our online resources.
To apply for a temporary library card, please complete this form (KIPP Academy students, see below). A confirmation email containing your temporary library card number will be sent to you within 48 hours. Click here for full details.

The staff of the Lynn Public Library is dedicated to serving the needs of a diverse population whose interests range from scholarly research to cultural pursuits to entertainment. The Library encourages an environment where its patrons may inform, educate, and enlighten themselves. Our collection numbers almost 125,000 volumes, with over 30,000 in the Children’s Department alone. The large Reference collection is known for its emphasis on Lynn history, genealogy, the Civil War, business and law. The Circulation Department keeps current with all the best sellers.
The Lynn Public Library is one of 28 area libraries that make up the North of Boston Library Exchange (NOBLE).
