Fall Hours

Traditionally, we have expanded our operating hours to 50 hours over six days per week immediately after Labor Day. Sadly, steeper-than-expected cuts in State Aid have left the city in a tougher-than-expected financial position. And to add more pain to the mix, further cuts are expected soon. Thus, while the library's personnel budget is adequate to reach those hours and days of service, the town lacks sufficient funds at this point to sustain those staffing levels. For this reason, we are forced to put off any change to our schedule for a week or two. The Library Trustees will meet on Wednesday evening, September 9th, at 6:30 p.m. in Hazlett Room to consider and discuss our fall-winter-spring schedule. Once they have reached a decision, we will publish our schedule here and in other places (most notably WCAT), giving our patrons a week or so before the new schedule goes into effect.

Thank you for your patience and understanding and, most importantly, thank you for extending to us the privilege of serving you.
