Sacks, Jen. Nice: A Novel
This is a quirky little novel about a woman who kills her lovers rather than make them unhappy by breaking up with them. Done in two distinct voices--Grace, our killer, and Sam, her stalker--the book is entertaining, innovative, wacky, and funny. Grace's chapters are full of irony, and they intrigue the reader from the first page. Sam is equally compelling as he explains the world of an assassin-for-hire attracted to this complex woman who kills because she just wants to be "nice." Actually the word "nice" is used in a myriad of ways in this book, and this first-time novelist has produced a very literate character piece that reads quickly and easily.
