Krist, Gary. Chaos Theory
The reviews for John Grisham's The Brethren are trickling out and they are rather negative. People Weekly called it a dud and USA Today said that reading it was like slogging through wet cement. Loyal fans may still want to read it to see where he went wrong but readers looking for a fresh voice can skip The Brethren in favor of Gary Krist's new title Chaos Theory.
Jason Rourke and Dennis Monroe are college bound high school students who head to the rough side of Washington D.C. for drugs and end up with a murder on their hands. The news that they have killed an undercover cop forces Jason and Dennis to confide in one of their teachers, Renee Daniels. A former investigative journalist with ties all over Washington, Daniels tries to help the boys. Events quickly spiral out of control and the boys and Renee are involved in a complicated web of murders, deception, political intrigue and more.
Krist creates a memorable cast of characters and the story moves quickly from one development to the next leading the readers on a terrifying scramble through the Washington political and legal landscape.
