Grippando, James. The Abduction

After a rather tedious beginning, this suspense thriller takes off as the reader becomes invested in the characters especially Presidental candidate and Attorney General Allison Leahy, Tanya and Kristen Howe, and FBI kidnapping specialist Harley Abrams. The main plot focuses on the kidnapping of Kristen, the granddaughter of Leahy's opponent in the Presidental race, Lincoln Howe who has never acknowledged her existence and who's relationship with his daughter, Tanya, has suffered because of his denial.

The political intrigue nicely muddies already murky waters in the serpentine plot as kidnappers squabble and political consultants play one-up-manship. The evidence for believing that a much earlier tragedy is related to the present kidnapping is thin, but by the end of the book easier to buy into as the case comes to a conclusion. The last 100 pages is a thrill a minute. A good beach read.
