Used Book Sale
The Friends of Beebe Library hold their annual used Book Sale on the first Saturday in June from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., rain or shine, at the First Baptist Church at the corner of Common and Lafayette streets. Admission is free. The book sale is held in the Fellowship Hall, which is wheelchair accessible. An advance viewing takes place for members of the Friends the evening before the sale.
The Friends are currently accepting donations of hardcover and paperback books, videos, DVDs, CDs, and books on tape, to be included in the sale. Small quantities of donated books and other materials may be dropped off at the library. For donations of large quantities of books, make arrangements for a pickup by calling Michael Maloney at 781-224-9602, or Jody Sherman at 781-245-3631.
Unfortunately, textbooks, condensed books, books without covers and magazines cannot be accepted. If you have books or other materials to donate, please contact the Friends in advance of the sale.
The Friends are seeking Wakefield member-volunteers to assist with the sale. Workers are needed to help with set-up, sort books, work as cashiers, and assist with clean-up. Anyone interested in volunteering is encouraged to call Jody Sherman at 781-245-3631.
Proceeds of the Book Sale benefit programs at Beebe Library.
During the year the Friends also have a small selection of used books available on the Lower Level in the fiction area.
