Magazines
The Library carries subscriptions to over 200 magazines covering a variety of subjects. They are shelved alphabetically by title in the large gold reading room on the main floor of the building (shown below). We usually keep up to two years of back issues of most magazines. Click here to see an online list of those titles the Library carries in hard copy, with information on how far back we keep them.

Most magazine issues can be checked out for one week, with the exception of the latest issue (in a plastic cover), and selected reference or genealogical titles. Any magazine article that is not available in our collection or through our online databases can be obtained from another library by interlibrary loan.
To search for information in magazines you will want to use one of our two main online periodicals indexes. The
EBSCO INDEXES cover more than 3,000 magazine titles and provide the full text of articles for more than 1,800 of those titles. Because of licensing restrictions, you must have a valid library card in order to access the database from home. To search simply click on the above link and log in using your library card number.
INFOTRAC DATABASES - This is another collection of full-text periodical databases provided free to area public libraries with funding from the Northeast Mass. Regional Library System . It is similar to the EBSCO source mentioned above, but covers many different magazine titles, including many more academic journals. Included are several separate databases covering academic journals, business, medical, and education journals, and biographical sources. The Informe database indexes many of the most popular current Spanish language newspapers and journals. Because of licensing restrictions you must enter your library card number in order to access Infotrac from home.
