Reserves & Interlibrary Loans
If an item in our collection is checked out, we can reserve it for you using your library card. When the item is returned, we will call you and hold it on our reserve shelf for you. You can also reserve materials we have on order, but have not yet received.
If another library owns the book you need, we can borrow it for you via interlibrary loan. From most nearby libraries this only takes about two business days. Again, we will call you when the book arrives and hold it for you on our reserve shelf.
You can also request items and place holds yourself, from home, office, or in the library. When viewing a specific item in the catalog, you can request the title by clicking the request button. You will be prompted for your name, library card number, and PIN number if you are not already logged in, and you will need to designate a pickup location. If there is a copy available at any of the NOBLE libraries, it will be sent to the pickup location you specified, and you will be notified when the item is ready for pickup. If all copies of the book are circulating, you will be placed in a hold queue, and notified when a copy becomes available. For more information on how this service works, click HERE.
If you need an item sooner, you are welcome to go directly to that library to borrow the book using your Wakefield library card. Check out the NOBLE web site for hours and directions to other NOBLE libraries. It is highly advisable to call that library before going to confirm that they actually have the book on shelf. We are happy to call for you if you'd like.
There is no charge for reserves or interlibrary loans obtained from within the NOBLE network. However, due to state budget cuts that have affected interlibrary loan and delivery services, we ask for a donation of one dollar for each item borrowed from outside the NOBLE network in order to cover shipping costs.
