College Night & Robotics Teen Program October 2013
SCHOOL DAZE: NAVIGATING THE COLLEGE ENTRANCE EXPERIENCE Wednesday, October 2nd 6:30pm
High school students and parents are invited to a program Wednesday, October 2nd at 6:30pm to learn about applying to colleges. Emily Barnum and Jennifer Magary from Swampscott High School Guidance Department will give an overview of the process and explain the role of the Guidance Department. Joanna Ganci, Swampscott High School English Department Chair, will give advice on writing essays & getting teacher recommendations. Yessika Hurtado, Educational Adviser at Lynn Educational Opportunity Center, will speak about FAFSA, PROFILE, and financial aid. Sherry Brass, Director of Pre-College Programs at Kaplan Test Prep, will cover standardized testing. No registration is required–students welcome (and parents, too). We will have drawings to win college guides!

WELCOME TO THE FUTURE! ROBOTICS AT THE CUTTING EDGE OF SCIENCE WED. OCT. 16 6:00PM
On Wednesday, October 16th 6:00pm, Professor Constantinos Mavroidis, Director of the Biomedical Mechatronics Laboratory, Northeastern University will discuss the work of his lab, including the exoskeleton robots used to help patients at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital. Professor Mavroidis and several of his PhD students will show videos of this work. He also plans to bring a new type of 3D printer and various parts built with the printer. He will also demonstrate how to use it. No registration is required.
