Ongoing Groups Meeting in November

Practically Speaking English

This program is a chance for our Russian population to come in and practice their skills in communicating in English. The group will be lead by a non-Russian speaker to encourage members to only participate in English. The group will meet Tuesday mornings from 10:30am to 11:30am. No registration necessary–just stop in.

Knitting Club

Join the Needlers a knitting group at the Swampscott Public Library. This group meets weekly, every Wednesday at 10:30a.m. Crocheters are welcome to join our group. We make our own projects or items to be donated to charity. Members can be beginners or experts.

DROP-IN KNITTING GROUP

The Needlers have started a drop-in knitting group welcome to anyone who wants to stop by and knit or crochet. The group meets weekly, every Thursday at 1:00pm.

Computer Club: Technology Travelers

Do you feel left out when people begin talking about Facebook, or social networking, Internet, emails and Pinterest? Would you like to become part of the 21st century? Then join our computer club. It meets on Thursday mornings from 10am -11am. This club is basically for all the newcomers to technology; so don’t feel intimidated if you don’t know how to access any of these sites. Come in and learn with others who want to become computer literate. It should be a fun group with no pressure, just some exposure to all of these new things that are around for us to see. This, however, is also a club where those knowledgeable in technology might want to come by and share their knowledge with others. You can join any time. Just come by the library at 10:00am on Thursdays. The library is closed, so just knock with your keys on the door and we will let you in. No preregistration is required for the class.

One-on-One Computer Help

You can reserve a half-hour of one-on-one time for personal computer instruction or to learn how to use your Kindle Fire. Call the library at 781-596-8867 to reserve a half-hour slot on either Tuesday at 11:30am or noon or Thursday morning between 11:00am to 12:00noon. For Kindle Fire help, be sure and bring your Amazon password.

Brunch Bunch Book Group

Join us at noon for a book discussion/playgroup time. Moms can have light lunch and coffee while they discuss the month’s selection and children can have lunch and juice/water and play or do a craft. The group will meet in the Children’s Room and three staff members will be present. Our selection for Monday, November 24th at noon will be The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin. You do need to register for this group so that we can order the books and the food. Come and give it a try, we think that this may be an enjoyable way to spend a lunchtime. To register call Alyce or Izzi at 781-596-8867.
