Contains information about all public company filings including annual reports,
company summary information, and shareholder reports. Includes information
from public documents maintained by the U.S. Securities and Exchange

Massachusetts Companies

Massachusetts Software Industry
Researchers can search the membership directory of the Massachusetts Software
Council. Members include companies active in the computer software and hardware,
Internet, communications, bio-IT, and emerging technology markets. They range from
one-person entrepreneurial ventures, to established corporations with thousands of
employees.

Rankings on the Web

While many business magazines' web sites link to annual lists of rankings, few provide
access to complete lists to nonsubscribers. A better approach would be to
search for lists such as "Fortune 500" in a business periodical database such as EBSCO's
Business Source Premier, which provides full-text of many articles. Salem State
College Library also subscribes to the print version of many popular business magazines
and newspapers including the Wall Street Journal.

majority of which are business/industry related. Many of these issues, in turn, include
"top company" or "best company" lists. Though this free web site does not provide access
to the current year's lists to non-subscribers, this site can be used as a reference tool to
identify the existence of lists in many industries. Updated versions of such lists can be retrieved
through the Library's business databases.

The Value Line Investment Survey. Located on the Business Reference Shelves
in the Library. Updated weekly.
Part One tracks the performance of 1,700 stocks, while breaking out best/worst
performers, highest returns, etc. Gives current and past year's data. Part Two
provides details on company stocks, arranged by industry. Gives current and
retrospective information on stocks and other key financial data.
