National Blood Donor Month

National Blood Donor Month has been observed each January since 1970. January was chosen for this observance because the American blood supply typically drops to dangerously low levels during this month, when far fewer people tend to donate blood. The aim of National Blood Donor Month is to educate people about the critical need for regular blood donations and to encourage them to become donors.
