Borrower Services
Reserves
If there is a title you want to find and all copies are checked out, you can reserve it, and the first available copy will be put aside for you. This is true of books (excluding rentals), videos, DVDs, and audio owned by the Saugus Public Library.
You can reserve a title three ways. Fill out a reserve form available at the Reference or Circulation Desks with the appropriate information, and a Librarian will place a reserve on the titles you're interested in.
Speak with a librarian at the Reference Desk in person, by telephone (781-231-4168 x56), or by e-mail ( ) and a librarian will reserve your materials for you.
If you have a Personal Identification Number (PIN), you can reserve material for yourself from our online Library catalog at home, or in the building. To do this, you must first log in to your account on our online catalog using your library card number and your PIN. Then search for the materials you want. Place a reserve on each title and the books will be held for you when they arrive at the Library.
When your reserved materials arrive at the Library, you will receive a telephone call or an e-mail message informing you of their arrival. The materials will be held for five days under your name at the Circulation Desk. After five days, the materials will be placed back on the shelf.
Reserves are not allowed on rental books. A Librarian, or the catalog, will let you know if there are no copies available to be borrowed when you place your reserve.
