Fall Adult Programming is here! From September to December, our focus will be on Technology. We have classes available for every skill level and all programs are FREE. Let us show you how this powerful tool can help you locate your ancestors, discover their stories and so much more.  You may attend each class for a comprehensive overview of Ancestry.com, or you may choose to attend one or more sessions that interest you most. All sessions are free and no registration is required.

Computer Basics

Using a computer has become a necessary part of interacting with friends, family, and the community. However, these advances in technology can be overwhelming. Do you need to learn how to use a computer? Our computer basics class will teach you how to use a mouse, a keyboard, and other pieces of computer equipment. Classes are limited to five people. Registration required and begins on Sept. 1st.

Having trouble keeping up with new technology? Half-hour one-on-one Technology Help Sessions are being offered at the Salem Public Library! Need help with the new line spacing in Microsoft Word? Want assistance posting an online ad? Want to learn how to download eBooks and audio-books? We are here to help!  Registration required and begins on September 1st.

WordPress

Want to builWordpress-webd a website? Interested in blogging? Try WordPress! Using WordPress, you can build websites and blogs for personal and/or professional use. This program will include three sessions introducing you to WordPress and its functions and one hands-on session where you will build your very own website. All sessions are free and open to the public. Registration is required for the hands-on session, and it is necessary that patrons have a working email when attending. Registration begins Sept. 15th.

This forum’s focus will be free software: how to use various free programs to realize creative projects, and why free software and the vitality of our cultural commons is crucial to a vibrant, more equal society, vis-à-vis the free/open source software movement. Sessions will involve demonstrations of audio, image, and video editing software, such as Audacity, GIMP, and wevideo. As a forum, it’s encouraged that participants bring their ideas and skill sets to the table to share with others. All sessions are free and no registration is required.
