If you are a teacher or a learner (or both!) you will want to check out the new content that the Smithsonian Institution has placed on iTunesU. In fact, if you have never explored iTunesU you are in for a treat. As described in the Smithsonian press release, “iTunes U is a dedicated area within iTunes that gives users public access to hundreds of thousands of free lectures, videos books, podcasts and courses from learning institutions all over the world. With the iTunes U app, users can download content directly onto their iPad, iPhone and iPod touch.”
Three Smithsonian courses dealing with aspects of aviation history are available now, and more will be added throughout 2014. The courses include materials from the Libraries’ Galaxy of Images and the Smithsonian Digital Library, supplemented with additional resources from the Smithsonian Channel, Smithsonian magazine, Air and Space magazine and NASA materials. All materials are free to download. Any librarian will be happy to help you get started in iTunesU.
