Please join us on Saturday, December 10th at 3:00pm in the Nest for a talk by Dr. Daniel Schmidt, Associate Professor of Plastics Engineering at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. Dr. Schmidt will be speaking about Bisphenol A, or BPA, an industrial chemical that has been used to make certain plastics since the 1960s.
Recent health concerns of BPA seeping into food from cans and bottles have led to a search for a safer alternative. BPA’s estrogenic characteristics and endocrine disrupting potential have also been the focus of more and more research. This talk will present an overview of these topics in an effort to spur informed discussions on the subject matter.
All members of the community are welcome to attend. This event is sponsored by the Science Club.
