The next meeting of the PA Community Book Club will be Friday, October 21st from 12 to 1 pm in the Mural Room of Paresky Commons. There we will discuss The Hotel On The Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford. Set in World War II Seattle during one of the most conflicted and volatile times in American history, The Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet is an extraordinary story of commitment and hope. The story traces the enduring love between Henry, a Chinese-American boy, and Keiko, a Japanese-American girl, who is swept up with her family and sent to an interment camp.
We chose this book because its setting and themes parallel two campus events:
As always, if you would like a copy of the book, please contact Emily at the OWHL (email@example.com). Also, a volunteer(s) is needed to lead this conversation. If you are interested please let us know.
We hope to see you there!
