The Academy’s Green Cup Challenge began on January 12th and continues to February 15th. The GCC is a perfect time for all of us to learn more about how we can conserve resources, and minimize our personal “footprint.” The OWHL is a great place to do that, since our collection includes books, DVD’s and other materials about all aspects of “going green.” During the GCC we will display the “dashboard” on the large monitor on the Help Desk so that library visitors can see our energy consumption in real time. In order to engage our students in thinking about the contributions they can make, we are featuring a GCC theme on our student response whiteboard.
And even if you can’t get into the library, you can “virtually” browse some excellent resources that have been selected by Sharon Pei, our Global Education Librarian, and organized on an OWHLGuide to the Green Cup Challenge.
The guide contains information about the Green Cup Challenge, including Sustainability Coordinator Debbie Shepard’s welcome message to the community. It also includes direct links to enough sources for a PhD thesis on an environmental topic. Sharon continues to add resources to this guide each year, so if you have a favorite book, website, or other resource that you’d like for her to feature on the guide, let her know at email@example.com.
