While the OWHL maintains a strong commitment to printed books, we are responding to user preferences and systematically supplementing our collection with electronic titles. In fact, we recently achieved the milestone of having more full text electronic books in our catalog than physical books.
Very soon, we will be able to offer you 117,000 additional titles, without spending a penny of our materials budget! While physical collections need to be acquired and owned by a single library (and then hopefully shared through consortial arrangements like NOBLE) virtual materials don’t need to live anywhere. By joining with other libraries across the Commonwealth to collectively purchase a joint collection, we can all provide a deeper, richer collection to our individual users.
During the pilot project, we will be able to offer materials from three venders. They include:
We are very excited to be able to offer this new content. Watch for an announcement and access instructions soon.
