We travel from the hotel to the campus in a van owned by the college.  The trip is short  in the morning, and longer at night when we return.  We were slower this morning because of the flooding.  Part of the road had collapsed, and we had to detour over some rubble to pass.  There are no traffic rules.  There are street lights, but they are so often inoperable because of power failures, that no one pays any attention.

Today was an organization day for the seminar.  We began with a joint opening ceremony with the Economics Seminar, and didn’t start our program until after the tea break.  The theme for today was: Where are we and where do we want to go?   The activities were intended to explore the status quo and develop a vision of what is possible.  Following an introductory exercise, the participants worked in school-based groups to define the strengths and weaknesses of the current programs, and to identify and prioritize the opportunities that these present. I presented “The New, Improved, School Library” and then we discussed the taxonomies of library integration (principal, teacher, and librarian)  Each person set goals for one year.
