  • ATLA - Produced by the American Theological Library Association, this database covers biblical studies, world religions, church history, and religious perspectives on social issues. An essential resource for students in theology as well as in social sciences, history, and humanities.

  • Academic Search Premier - A multi-disciplinary database that provides full text for more than 4,500 publications, including full text for more than 3,600 peer-reviewed journals.
  • Academic OneFile - Contains 8,000 academic journals, the majority in full-text, as well as hundreds of podcasts and transcripts from NPR, CNN, and the CBC. Multi-disciplinary content.
  • Expanded Academic ASAP - From arts and the humanities to social sciences, science and technology, this database meets research needs across all academic disciplines. Access scholarly journals, news magazines, and newspapers - many with full text and images.

  • General Reference Center Gold - A general interest database that integrates a variety of sources in one easy-to-use interface. Use General Reference Center Gold to find articles from newspapers, reference books, and periodicals, many with full-text and images. Find the latest current events, popular culture, business and industry coverage, the arts and sciences, sports, hobbies, and more.
JSTOR - A digital archive containing back-issues of core scholarly journals in the humanities, social sciences, and sciences. It contains complete runs of these scholarly journals, many of which date from the 1800s. Note: does not contain the most recent 3 to 5 years of titles.
Project MUSE - Provides full-text online access to over 300 humanities, arts and social sciences journals from 60 scholarly publishers. Every journal is heavily indexed and peer-reviewed, with critically acclaimed articles by the most respected scholars in their fields.
Philosopher's Index - Provides indexing and abstracts from books and journals of philosophy and related fields. It covers the areas of ethics, aesthetics, social philosophy, political philosophy, epistemology, and metaphysic logic as well as material on the philosophy of law, religion, science, history, education, and language.

The Oxford Encyclopedia of the Modern Islamic World (4 volumes)
Entries on Christianity and Islam, Muhammad, & Qu'ran

The New Catholic Encyclopedia (19 volumes)
Good entries on Muhammad, Jesus, and Qur'an

The New Encyclopaedia Britannica*. (32 volumes... we also subscribe to Britannica Online, an online version of premiere encyclopedia and suite of reference sources.)
Brief entries... not high level of detail

Encyclopedia of Islam and the Muslim world
Entries on Muhammad and Qur'an
Encyclopedia of Islam in the United States
Volume 1 is encyclopedia, Volume 2 contains articles on religious life of Muslims, Terrorism, etc.
Voices of Islam
Entries on Muhammad, Qur'an and Islamic Practices. Chapter 4 in Volume 1 entitled, "The Qur'an, the Word of God."

Encyclopaedia of the Qur'an
Articles about contents of Qur'an, essays on themes, topics, place names, history

Encyclopedia of Religion
Lengthy entries on variety of topics. Good starting point!

The Islamic World: Past and Present
Encyclopedia with Islamic words, culture, history, and important people in the Islamic faith.

Jesus in History, Thought, and Culture
Section comparing Christianity and Islam
