Dedication of the new Merrimack College Library on Friday, April 26, 1968. At the front entrance, Very Rev. Vincent A. McQuade, O.S.A., 1st President of Merrimack College blesses the new buiding. In the center next to Father McQuade is His Excellency the Honorable John A. Volpe, Governor of Massachusetts, Walter Muir Whitehill,, Director and Librarian of the Boston Athenaeum, and Rev. John R. Aherne, O.S.A., Vice-President and Dean of the College (later to become the 2nd President of Merrimack College).
