Federal and Massachusetts income tax returns will be prepared at St Athanasius Church, 312 Haverhill St., Reading, for Lynnfield residents on Thursdays, beginning Thursday, February 4 through Thursday, April 8. Lynnfield residents may schedule an appointment at 9:15 a.m., 10:15 a.m., 11:15 a.m., and 12:15 p.m. on these Thursdays by calling the Lynnfield Public Library at 781-334-5411 and asking for the Reference Librarian.
Walk-in service is available on Saturdays at the Reading Public Library from 9:15 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., February 6 through and including April 10. NOTE: There will be no tax help on Saturday, March 27.
This is a free service that is provided by TCE (Tax Counseling for the Elderly) volunteers using electronic filing for rapid refunds. The service is available for all ages with incomes under $60,000 and no rental incomes. Tax preparation for clients with mutual fund & brokerage statements begins in March. The volunteers will do circuit breaker requests; please bring the assessed value on your home, the amount of taxes paid and the water bill. Proof of health insurance is now required; please bring Form MA 1099-HC and your health insurance cards. The tax aides will not do Schedule C, E, a complicated Schedule D (more than 10 trades), small businesses with employees, or anyone with a second home.
