The Local History/Genealogy collection is located in a separate room in the rear of the library on the first floor of the building. Maintained by the Essex Society of Genealogists, the Society has extensive holdings in Essex County materials, over 3,000 individual genealogies and 2,000 histories of local towns and cities.

The materials in this collection do not circulate but may be taken out of the Local History/Genealogy Room and used in the Reading Room. Volunteers are usually available from Monday through Friday to assist patrons with their research and help them locate materials.

The Information Desk of the Lynnfield Library offers interlibrary loan services to genealogy patrons. You may request up to three items per visit. There is no charge for this service but there is a $1.50 postage fee for returning materials to the lending library. This is payable to the Information Desk staff at the time of your request.

The collection is available for use during the same hours that the Lynnfield Library is open.

We have two microfiche and three microfilm machines and one microfilm/microfiche reader/printer that has printing capabilities. Copies are $ .15 per page and payable at the Circulation Desk.
