SAGE (for Savvy, Active, Growing, and Enterprising individuals 55 and over)

In October 2003, NMRLS began a grant-funded project with Libraries for the Future (LFF) to help public libraries better serve the Boomer generation as they move into retirement. Lynnfield Public Library staff took part in this project and the training it offered. As a result of that, SAGE took hold. SAGE – savvy, active, growing and enterprising individuals of 55 years or more – want to connect to resources and to each other as they move into a different stage of their lives. They see the library as an important place to make these connections.

Our interests are film / book discussion series; museum trips and author visits; and educational programs with speakers or panel discussions. We take about five or six trips per year with about the same number of meetings held at the library. In the past, we’ve toured the Harvard University Museum of Natural History, taken a Lighthouse Tour down the Annisquam River and marveled at the Hidden Gardens of Beacon Hill.

Are you retired? Are you thinking about it? Call the library at 781.334.5411 or email us at lfd@noblenet.org for more details!

Children’s Programs

At the Lynnfield Public Library our children’s librarians use children’s literature and other library resources to encourage a life long joy of reading and the opportunity for personal development. We offer reading recommendations, reference and research assistance, and specialized programs for groups and classes.
