-- selected online resources
Remembering September 11 -- online exhibits
At Bunker Hill Community College on September 11, 2004, opportunities
for reflection on the events of two year ago include:
- September
11th, a memorial -- a special report from CNN.com that functions as
"an evolving record of those who died and a place for readers to build
a living memorial for them."
- September11archive.org
- This site is an archive for online reactions to and discussions of
the 9/11 events. You may search for specific sites or browse through
twelve broad subject categories.
- 9/11 Digital
Archive -- much like the September 11th website archive, this site
also attempts to collect, preserve, and present the online reactions of
ordinary citizens to the events of September 11, 2001. Includes
personal stories, photos, and collections of e-mail messages and other
electronic media transmissions.
Remembering September 11 -- local events September 11,
2004
- 2nd
Annual Fenway Park Blood Drive -- the Red Sox host the second
annual blood drive to honor the memory of those who lost their lives on
September 11, 2001.
- Beyond
the 11th -- Cycling Forward -- two widows of men who lost their
lives September 11, 2001 will board their bicycles at Ground Zero on
September 9th, and ride 275 miles back to Boston; on September 11th,
they will be met by 200 cyclists to help them complete the final 30
miles of their journey, which will end at the new 9/11 Memorial in the
Boston Public Garden. There is a high registration and participation
fee, proceeds benefit Beyond the 11th, a charity dedicated to
helping widows affected by war and terrorism.
- Third
Anniversary Commemoration Saturday, September 11, 2004 -- organized
by the Massachusetts 9/11 Fund, not all events are public and some are
public invitations but by RSVP only, including a ceremonial
flag-lowering, a speaking program, a visit to the new Contemplative
Garden at the Boston Public Gardens, and a reception for the Beyond
the 11th cyclists.
