STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS
MWPHE is pleased to announce the winners of the Student Scholarship Awards announced at the Spring Conference on April 11, 2008.
Charisa Cottonham, University of Massachusetts, Medical School
Melissa Bowering, Bridgewater State College
Carrie Thistle, Massasoit Community College
April Amirault, Northern Essex Community College
Each of these award-winners will receive a $500 scholarship.

This year MWPHE will award four student scholarships, one from the Massachusetts public university, one from the state college, and two from the community college segments. Each member institution is encouraged to nominate one female student who has overcome barriers to pursue higher education. Applications for these awards are available at the annual Fall Conference, and the recipients are announced at the annual Spring Conference.

April Amirault-Doherty, from Northern Essex Community College said...
"We come so far, yet don't see how far we've come until someone shows us.
That's what this beautiful award has done for me."
Carrie Thistle from Massasoit Community College said, "Massasoit Community
College has given me the ability to provide for myself and my children.
I'm proud to be a recipient of this award and very grateful."
Melissa J. Bowering from Bridgewater State College said, "I made the
choice to not let my hardships dictate my future. I've always helped the
community and look forward to finding new ways to do so after I graduate."
Charisa Cottonham from UMASS, Medical School said, "I come from a
background where not many people graduate from high school, let alone
college. I want to go back to my community and tell them if I can do it,
they can do it, too."
