WELCOME TO THE LIBRARY CAREER EXPLORATION WORKSHOP

The Job Connection Workshop: Using the Internet and Library References to Explore and Find A Career/Job

INTERNET LINGO | ACCESSING THE INTERNET AND LIBRARY REFERENCES | WEB SITES AND REFERENCE BOOKS | JOB SEARCH AND CAREER EXPLORATION |


Who:

  • Week 1 and 2 Participants: You will be working on continuing your career exploration to find the best fit for you. You will access books and the Internet to learn about different careers and explore your career goals.
  • Week 3+ Participants: You will be working on the Internet to conduct your job search. You will access different Web sites to get job leads which will be followed up on back at the Job Connection.

What:

On your first visit you will be attending an orientation with a librarian and you will learn several techniques for performing career exploration and assessments. For example, you'll plug into the most current way of finding a job independently - using the Internet.

Where:

Bunker Hill Community College

When:

Every Tuesday, after lunch from 12:30-2:30pm

Why:

The purpose of this onsite workshop is to help you expand upon what you are doing and learning at the Job Connection. You will learn how to usebooks, magazines, and newspapers as well as the Internet to learn more about different careers. Internet use will be restricted to career exploration, career assessments, and job searches. You will be learning about the World Wide Web which will enable you to explore other interests on your own time.

How:

Transportation Via the "T", tokens will be provided.
