Evaluation of Online Tutorial Module
Tutorial Project Goals
Create a WBT module that will focus primarily on electronic sources with direction to pursue other information resources to include a range of source materials.
- Provide an introductory overview of electronic and other resources available to BHCC students on and off campus
- Provide an introductory overview of search techniques and methods of utilizing information access tools for the purpose of locating information on a stated topic
- Provide a sample application as a presentation framework for tools, techniques, methods and strategies as a context for content
- Provide a WBT with a non-linear structure and a scope that allows for and encourages access by a range of users allowing for user differences in terms of demographics, needs, modalities of learning and styles of learning
User Learning Objectives of Online Tutorial
Upon completion of self paced WBT module the student will be
- Aware of a range of access methods and requirements for information access at BHCC on and off line (barcode, PIN, Proxy, library location & hours)
- Appreciate the differences between a subject and topic
- Be aware of the full range of electronic and other resources available via the BHCC library web page
- Determine the appropriateness of a given source for a stated application
- Find a book in home and consortium libraries
- Distinguish between types of sources (primary, secondary , tertiary indexes, encyclopedias, handbooks etc)
- Be able to distinguish subscription from open access online resources
- Evaluate sources and content
- Recognize the value and purpose of context relevant help when using information tools on and off line
- Apply citation formats i.e. MLA and consider Intellectual property rights, plagiarism, using quotations etc.
