The Virtual Library Movement, Digital Convergence, Knowledge Management, The Telecommunications Act and The Digital Millennium Copyright Act are just of few of the issues that necessitated and continue to propel the need to align the BHCC library with the ideas surrounding what goes into forming and delivering the Library of the 21 Century here at BHCC.

The BHCC library is user focused. Its collection of resources and the staff who bring meaning to its holdings relate and contribute directly to the idea of providing academic support to all BHCC students. Information use is intricately intertwined throughout the BHCC General Education Requirements and information proficency use is a critical factor in the success of BHCC students in their academic, personal and work lives. The guidelines are simple. Take a look at the Competency Standards and consider how easy it is to draw parallels to existing course activities. The library provides a centralized resource where you can help students to gain proficiency in practicing participation in their own learning in creative, self-directed, and interesting ways.
