Submitting Requests for Library Resources
How do I submit a request to the library and have a book, journal, magazine or electronic resource added to the collection?
The short answer:
- Go to the web, fill out the collection development request form and click on Submit
The complete answer:
- Demonstrate an awareness of related resources the library has on its shelves and available via the web (Check consortia holdings, and current holdings in the BHCC Reference, Circulating and Reserve collections.)
- Clearly state if the requested resource supplements or replaces currently available material.
- Attach a review
- State how the resource relates to the curriculum -- directly or peripherally
- Provide accurate details about the resource, including:
- ISBN no.
- complete title (include any subtitle)
- publisher
- cloth or paperbound
- price
- Choose a method of submission that is comfortable for you:
- I drive
- Paper
- Web
- Photocopy from publisher's catalog
- Procedure for follow up on collection suggestions: Interested in making a suggestion about books to buy for the BHCC library? Talk to a librarian about books you'd like to see in the BHCC collection. The suggestion will be:
* Considered in relation to courses and programs offered by the college
* Reviewed in terms of availability through our shared resource agreement with our 27 library consortium (NOBLE), the statewide virtual catalog and other interlibrary loan options.
* Submitted to the director with a recommendation (or not) to purchase
* Analyzed and considered in terms of acquisition priorities and available funds
