The BHCC Library & Learning Commons has an overall Collection Management & Development process in place that:

A. Addresses all formats (digital, multimedia, traditional) and future services

B. Considers the collection analysis activities and approval plans, and the negotiating of license agreements for digital resources.

C. Details Collection Development and Management policies.

D. Outlines the Collection Development and Management procedures for the production and management of digital content, particularly regarding selection criteria, capture standards, metadata, workflow, and quality control.

BHCC Library staff members are routinely involved at different levels and to varying degrees with:

1. Integrating print monographs and serials into existing collection and implementing new releases/customizing and extending systems.

2. Working with vendors, local resource agents, and library service providers on issues related to collection dev. & mgmt. issues.

3. Assisting library staff with use of integrated systems and create custom reports as needed, performing outreach and communicating information about new acquisitions, digitization and digital projects.

4. Assisting in the identification and writing of grant proposals and other funding related activities geared towards the creation of digitization and digital projects.

5. Serving on library and college committees.

6. Integration of collection dev. & mgmt. updates into Information Services and library instruction programs.
