BHCC LIBRARY ONLINE CATALOG

When you come to the library there are some basic things you need to know so that you are putting our research tools to work effectively for you.

The online catalog is the most efficient way to find a book in the BHCC library. Take some time to master the NOBLE WebCatalog so when you need to stop in and borrow a book your task will be easier. The Web catalog version http://innopac.noblenet.org/search~S37// is accessible from anywhere via the Internet using any World Wide Web browser.

For a quick look, select BHCC Library. There are six searchable fields. To start, use the Basic Keyword search, unless you already know the author's name (Author), or the title of the book (Title) of a specific book. If you have a topic in mind but do not know of a particular title or author for your topic, use the (Subject) search available from the online catalog. Before you enter your search, read the screen. There are always useful tips that will save you search time.

Here is a brief practice example. Try to find books about pollution of the environment. Click on Basic Keyword read over the search example and type in pollution and environment. Click on Search button. There are 21 entries that include your two terms POLLUTION & ENVIRONMENT. Note the first 12 entries are listed on the first page. Next, click a title on the list. You will get detailed information about the book and the Call Number of the book so you will know where it is located on the library shelf.

From here, you can Return to List, and/or go to Next Record (remember use the navigation buttons in the software, not the Back button on your Browser), or you can use the pull down menus to change the collection level from BHCC Library only to All College Libraries , or View Entire Collection.

Looking at the information about the book, there is a Subject field, clicking any one of the subject heading links will lead you to a list of Subject Headings. Use these to find more books related to your subject.

If books you need are not in the BHCC Library, you can always send an InterLibrary Loan request to us if you have a valid BHCC Library card and details of your request.
