Mmmm... online access... *drools*
For my blog entry this week, I thought I would tell you all that the library is now on IM. That's right - now you can ask questions both of the Reference desk and myself even when you're not here at the library.
You can contact me via Meebo, AIM or Y!M as
yabeverlypublic and the Reference desk via Meebo or AIM as
beverlypublic.
We will be getting a Meebo widget up on the teen page for anyone who either doesn't have IM (*gasp*) or who can't log in because they're on someone else's computer, etc. There's already one up on the
Reference page for that desk and you should really give it a try. Ask a question. Request a book. You may even get me on occasion at the Reference desk as well, because I work there too!
And a final word to those who might be getting Ideas from all of this? Please play nice with the kindly librarians and remember that IPs are trackable, my friends. :P
Joyous IMing, folks!
A blog about absolutely nothing...
Hi all!
I seem to have snapped my winning streak with managing to post every week even when I didn't have much to say. I don't have much to say this week either, but I'm trying - no
really. :)
By now you should all be started back at school, and as painful a reminder as the library might be of school, I still hope to see some of your smiling faces around here. I've certainly seen quite a few of you so far.
A few small updates:
- For those of you who might not have finished your summer reading assignment yet (For shame!! ;) ), we still have some copies of the books around. At this late date they may not be your absolute first choices, but most of the year aren't half bad! We still have plenty of assignment sheets and reading lists around as well, so come on down and help yourselves.
- September is Library Card Sign-up Month, so if you don't have a card already, come on down and get one. The first one is free and you just need to bring something along that proves who you are - a piece of mail works, or a school ID. Or you can bring a parent or guardian along with a piece of ID to vouch for you. It all works.
- October 14th through October 20th is Teen Read Week and the YA section will be celebrating it in style. We're going to have a FULL WEEK of programming - that means something going on EVERY DAY from Monday through Friday. Am I serious? Most definitely. Am I crazy? Do you really need to ask? I'll be posting a full breakdown of all the cool stuff going on soon, so don't forget to check back for a schedule coming very soon. :D It should be an insane amount of fun!
That's it for now. Did I babble enough? :D Thought so.
Cheers!
