Borrowing Materials
Your Library Card
Anyone is welcome to use the Beverly Public Library. To borrow library materials, patrons must register for a library card or present the library card from the public library in the community where they reside. Patrons who have used a card already in another public library which is a member of the North of Boston Library Exchange (NOBLE) are already registered. To obtain a library card you must present printed identification showing your name and current address. Parents or guardians may show their I.D. when registering children. There is no minimum age limit and no requirement that children can read or write their name. Patrons who have come to the library without their card may borrow material by showing printed identification with their name and address. This does not apply to the Bookmobile where patrons MUST present their library card.
Your card may be used at other public libraries in Massachusetts and at some academic libraries. The Beverly Public Library honors library cards from other Massachusetts libraries.

**Magazines: Current issues of magazines are in the North Reading Room (closest to Dane Street.) Those in binders cannot be borrowed, but those stored under the shelves (the most recent 12 months) may be borrowed.
If you accumulate $5.00 or more in fines or have overdue materials, you must pay the fines and return all overdue items before you can borrow other items.
If you accumulate $30.00 or more in fines, you will not be allowed to access the Internet from the Library.
Renewals
We allow two renewals on each item wih one exception: out-of-network interlibrary loan items (from outside Massachusetts) cannot be renewed.
To renew in person, give the librarian your library card and the barcode numbers from your materials.
To renew online, stop by the Circulation desk and ask for a PIN to go with your card, then go to your library account by visiting this website http://catalog.noblenet.org/patroninfo and renew any items that are available to be renewed.
You cannot renew any item that has been reserved by another patron. However, we can reserve it for you again.
Reserves
The easiest way to reserve items is online via the catalog. To check your library account go to http://catalog.noblenet.org/patroninfo. If you do not already have a PIN, stop by the Circulation Desk to register for a one. You can only get a PIN number in person at the library.
Please note: If an item is ON SHELF in Beverly, do not reserve the item online. Call the library (978-921-6062) and we will pull the item for you. Reserving an item via the Internet that is currently ON SHELF in Beverly will delay your receipt of the item.
You can also place your request in person and by telephone.
When the item comes in, we will contact you by phone. If you wish to
receive notices via email, ask at the Circulation Desk to have your email address added to your account information.
You may place reserves on books owned by Beverly Public Library and
other NOBLE (North of
Boston Library Exchange) Libraries.
Now you can also place reserves on items not owned by NOBLE libraries using the Virtual Catalog. This catalog allows you to search the holdings of over 300 Massachusetts libraries. You will need your library card number and PIN to use this catalog.
