Library Cards
- Children under the age of 12 apply for their library cards in the
Children's Room.
- A parent's signature is needed on the application.
- There is no minimum age limit.
- The first card is free. A replacement costs $1.00.
- The Beverly Public Library honors cards from other Massachusetts
libraries.
Finding Materials
- There is a computerized catalog which allows searches by keyword, subject,
author and title.
- The picture book area in the back of the Children's Room also has
beginning reader books, puzzles, tapes, puppets, and dolls.
- In the nonfiction area, books are arranged by subject.
- Fiction books are arranged alphabetically by the author's last
name.
- There are computers with CD games in the Children's Room.
Checking Out
- Books, magazines, and audio cassette tapes may be borrowed for three
weeks.
- Videos and CDs may be borrowed for one week.
- Two renewals are permitted provided that the item is not on hold for
another person.
Reserves
- Any item that we own may be placed on hold.
- Books from other libraries may also be requested and sent to this
library. You will be called when the book arrives.
Fines
- Fines for most children's materials are $.02 a day (maximum $1.00 an
item).
- Overdue charges for videos are $.05 a day (maximum $2.00 per
video).
